spreading out

This was a big weekend as we move towards spreading out across Dade County.

On Friday night, I met with potential core team members for CF West Kendall. Our plan for developing a launch team has several steps.

-- First, we identify the campus director(s).
-- Second, we identify key staff to lead program areas (music, children, etc)
-- Third, we gather a core team of people (30-40) who will serve as leaders of leaders (coaches in our nomenclature)
-- Fourth, we gather a launch team (100 plus people) who will attend and serve at the new campus.

That is the plan, anyway. And God is pulling people into the mix. The meeting Friday night did not feel like a meeting. We met at Juan Roque’s house (campus co-director) and the atmosphere was electric. Over 30 people attended who are praying about serving on the team. Most signed up for the new small group we are beginning to develop the core. They will be reading Spiritual Leadership by Oswald Sanders.

One guy told me, “I need this in my life right now.” He was jacked about the opportunity, about the thrill that comes with serving God in a new adventure.

On Sunday, I preached at Central Baptist Church to the English congregation (11am) and the Hispanic congregation (3pm). Loved being there. 40 folks from CF came with me, and several of us walked to Bayside for lunch. I can get used to that. Please continue to pray for God’s protection, favor, wisdom, and grace as we progress with what could be CF Downtown.

I am soooooo ecstatic I don't know what to do! It is so weird and awesome how God works and most of the time it is in ways we do not see. Even with the seemingly bad news of WMCU being sold, I still believe that God is greatly at work. Faith for many of us believers is being pushed to greater levels. And I can see it moving mountains with the expansion of CF.

My husband and I live downtown and have been attending CF for over a year. When we first heard about the start of the Homestead Campus, we started thinking about CF having a ministry downtown. Yet, we didn't think it would happen.

I went to a youth concert at the downtown church about 2-3 years ago and never forgot my experience. Besides it being an awesome Spirit filled experience, the inside structure was impressive to me...and it's in a prime location.

My husband and I drive a distance to Palmetto Bay, so when we heard of the coming Kendall location, we considered it. But God had not put it in out hearts to go there, although closer. So, when we heard that CF would be moving downtown, we shouted for joy! We live about four blocks from the downtown church and can easily walk there.

When the move happens, as I know it will, my husband and I are more than willing to be a part of making ministry happen in Downtown Miami. My husband and I love the challenge of inner city ministry and are not afraid. AND there is truly a great need for a strong and faithful ministry to reach those people. Out of ALL the church's I visited when I left my previous church, CF was the one that impacted me the most with the heart, vision, and burden for reaching the lost. We are willing to be a part of bringing the CF corporate culture to an inner city that needs it!

--Much love,

Eric,
What do you look for in a campus director and what would the responsibilities be?

sherese,

wow...that is so encouraging. I told several people about your comment. God is so awesome. Lets keep praying!

Mike,

the campus director/pastor oversees all the ministry at the campus (staff management, pastoral care, outreach). The person is typically excellent at recruiting and training leaders and also very relational with people.
